Service imports and exports | Key indicators

As Canada's economy continues to grapple with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, new insight into the country’s international trade in services shows an almost unchanged deficit in March. According to recent Statistics Canada data, exports of services grew modestly (0.2%) while imports increased by a smaller margin (0.1%). At the same time, total imports, and exports of goods both declined between February and March, creating a surplus of $1 billion for goods trade overall. As companies look ahead at how these figures might shape the recovery process moving forward, it will be essential that they proactively monitor developments in Canada’s international trade environment closely.
